Indian Traditional Wear

India has its own traditional wear culture. This trend comes from the ethnic tradition of Raja's and Maharani's, who were accustomed to wear all rich Indian dresses of their time. These dresses were so appealing that the Indian fashion industry is hugely dominated by their trends. These dresses comprise of Sarees, Lahengas, Sherwanis, Poshak, Salwar Kamiz etc.

The Indian tradition for women wear was more about hiding the skin than revealing, along with it the dresses were so rich in colour and embroidery that it appealed to everybody. With the modernization the fashion trends have changed to large extent but when it comes to the traditional wear Saree's and lahengas remain the first preference of any Indian women.

Lehangas are long skirts along with blouse or a choli top, which is worn with a duppata. This dress is very famously used by every Indian bride. It is available in every Indian market with a wide range of colour. These dresses are given richer look by various kind of embroideries done on the cloth in the form of zardozi, gotta patti, zari, naka tikki etc which makes the dress look prettier and brighter.

All the above embroidery is hand done which makes the dress even special. India has a range of famous dress designers who specialize in the making of these ethnic wear some of them are Neeta Lulla, Ritu Kumar, Raghvendra Rathore etc.

Another dress which is commonly used by every Indian women is a Saree. It is a 5 mtr long cloth which is draped in a special way which covers the entire body of the female. These sarees are worn on every day basis.

Sarees are also available for the purpose of festive function which gets heavier according to its material and embroidery. The material used for these dresses has a wide range which comprises of Cotton, Tissue, Silk, Georgette, chiffon, crepe etc.
